It's been FOREVER!

Well hey, all! If y'all read this anymore, since I just realized I've not been updating in CENTURIES! lol...

Let's see... well freshman year wrapped up well, and now I'm back at home in the C-bus. It's going well. I've been spending a good deal of time working on Ben's campaign lately, and went up a couple weeks ago to NW Ohio to see things on the ground there. He's extremely busy with 4 jobs, and I don't know how he manages to run for office as well, but he's got a really cool campaign truck with a flashing arrow on it for parades... and I got to participate in one! Good times, y'all...

The toughest part is being 4 hours away southeast of the real campaign, and trying to run things. I mean, how am I supposed to know what's going on up there? And Ben is very hard to reach as you might imagine. So I have no idea what goes on day-to-day. I introduced a very specific summer-fall plan to the people, but I can't even know if it's getting implemented at all. The funny thing is, I have all the tools to make this campaign win, but when I can't see it except for our e-mail address and website activity, it's kinda frustrating, lol...

The one thing that keeps me going through it all is that everyone is doing their best. I saw that when I visited up there a couple weeks ago. And that's all anyone can ask for!

Personally, I've been up and down. There was a cousin's wedding, and my Aunt Mary's cancer might be getting better. But on the other side, a great aunt and great uncle both died in the last couple months. Makes you wonder about things. Other than that things are going pretty well.

Other highlights so far include the DFA Training Academy, which was an intense training on everything about campaigns, and redoing the front yard, which my dad and I are doing now. Basically, a lot of chopping up branches all day, lol... But it's looking a lot better.

What have you all been up to?? Hope your summers are going well. And if you're free or just want to talk, give me a holla! Take care everyone.

Ready to run...

Hey all,

Well, things are going a lot better now, thanks to you guys. I'm really glad to say that everything, from school to social life, is much better now. I'm so appreciative of all that's been going on!

Sorry to worry you guys with the last post... I was getting pretty stressed for a while that something wouldn't work out. I think I saved something from the brink of disaster. And that's a good feeling. I won't let that happen again.

Today was awesome! I slept in a lot, then spent some time with different people. It was so nice to just relax and do some fun stuff like throw a baseball with Ben, or just talk with my roommate Brent. And last night was no exception either... after the Witt Choir Memorial Concert, Amy had a party at Jon's house (these are both Witt Choir seniors) which was fun as usual! Great times, even though I couldn't get to bed til like 4am...

Tomorrow I've got church, homework, working out, '09 Cabinet meeting, watch The West Wing, then meet with Ben to talk about summer campaign strategy. I'm really pumped that after about 4 redesigns (and many more in my mind), I came up with a good new look for BenforOhio.com. I'm launching the new version at midnight on May 10th... I'll keep you guys posted. But let's just say... it looks incredible!

Well I'm prolly going to get to bed. I've been procrastinating, but today was a nice breather. I'm so glad that after a long, very hard winter season, that things seem to all be looking up for once. And I'm going to do my best to not let anything get me down!

Thanks for your help you guys. Whether through e-mails, phone calls, messages or talking face to face, I'm sure your help and support is what pulled me through. Oh yeah... and stay dry!

What can you do?

Hey everybody,

Easter break was great. I had a lot of fun being home in the C-bus (holla!) for the first time since Christmas. I also went up north to see my grandparents, which was fun. The weather was nothing short of amazing. And it was just good to kick back, however short it was.

Then I got back to Wittenberg. And I have to admit, I kinda screwed something up. Well, see, somebody told me he'd never had time to go onto Facebook, or even look at something online, over breaks. Naturally, on Facebook, you can see who they've written to on walls as well, but it's frustrating when it seems like you're the only one he won't write back to. So I wrote him an e-mail about honesty. Isn't that just natural - me trying to be the guardian angel all the time? But as usual it backfired on me - because then he told me about how once again, I was interfering in his private life. And yes, as usual again, his point of view prevailed and I left feeling like 2 cents. I wish I didn't keep screwing up like this. I don't know who or what to blame, but I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it. Apparently I'm supposed to think less. Well, I can't do that. At least I don't think so. So now, for me who's never done drugs or alcohol or anything like that, I feel like I'm in a horrible withdrawl. And I don't know how my life is going to be affected by it. I'm very depressed, and angry that I can't ever seem to get it right. You know, I do a lot of good things for people, but isn't it funny that I only seem to get recognized for the mistakes I make? I feel like I'm going to be viewed by the world as the kid that people just "like" but nothing more than that. I can't get invited to do things if I'm never at them - every time I am invited I almost always go. But everything suddenly is starting to feel clique-ish again, like Dublin, and that makes me sad. I feel like the only reason people elect me to stuff is because they know I'm a workaholic and they can go out and party, resting assured I'll be back at home working and thinking about them. But do they ever think I might want to go, too? That I might want to live a normal life, too?

I don't know. Story of my life, I guess. Then again, what can you do?

More than April Fool's Day

So pretty much today absolutely rocked. I worked 10-1, which was alright, but then things got so much better. I was working out for a while, and then Ben asked if I wanted to play a little basketball, so we did with Matt (his roommate). That was lots of fun - I haven't played basketball in so long! And then I worked out some more, took a little time off... Then Brian, one of 2 candidates for Student Senate President, met with me for a while and we talked about the future of the group and stuff. It was awesome and he was very open to what I had to say. I'm really glad he invited me to meet with him - I sure hope he and Kristin (his VP candidate) win Tuesday! After that, Ben Mooney (a different Ben, lol) invited me to go to dinner with him and his friend, which was cool. After that, I went for a while to the College Dems Comedy night, and got a sweet new Democratic t-shirt! The comedian was from NYC and he was hilarious (imagine it from my perspective, a political junkie... it was incredible, lol). Then I went to the WittMen Crew concert (they're Witt's a cappella guys group of about a dozen or so, and they do pop songs.)They're incredible - and like 1/3 of them are in Witt Choir with me, so I def had to go! Got their CD too... after the concert, Mike (one of the WittMen Crew guys) invited me to their party about an hour later. So at like 11 I went to it, and I just now got back to my dorm! Everybody was really cool about the election results (my & Ben's reelection as pres. & vp of the class of 2009), too! I'm so lucky to be at what I'd say is the best college ever with def. the best people ever! Today was awesome - I couldn't ask for anything more! Well maybe one thing - that my voice comes back enough to do well at our Chamber Singers Concert tomorrow afternoon!

Peace out y'all. Hope your weekends surpass expectations like mine did! Take care.
